Sunday Programs occur at 10:30 am each Sunday, unless otherwise noted in an announcement on this website.


Jun 25, Trevor Lewin, Guest Speaker, will be presenting his program “Kosher Communication”

Join us Sunday, June 25, 10:30 am, Trevor Lewin will be presenting his program, “Kosher Communication” at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs.

At 9:00 am the Wisdom Seekers will meet and discuss their current book.  You do not need to have read the book to join in the discussion.

At 10:00 am we will have coffee/tea and light snacks.

Jun 11, Annual Congregation Meeting

Join us for the annual Congregation meeting at 10:30 AM

At this meeting new officers will be elected for the coming year as well as discussing other important items for the church.

At 9:00 AM the Wisdom Seekers group will meet and discuss the book.

At 10:00 AM we will have coffee/tea and light snacks.

After the annual Congregation meeting there will be a potluck.

June 4, Annual Flower Communion

Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs will be celebrating a Flower Communion on Sunday, June 4th, 10:30am at 100 Norwalk.

Unitarians in Prague and around the world will also be celebrating the 95th Anniversary of the Flower Communion on Sunday the 4th of June 2017 this year.

“Bring a flower to exchange and take a flower home with you.”

“We want to make this annual event particularly special this year. We would like to invite Unitarian Universalists and visitors throughout the world to join us in this joyful event on Sunday June 4th. 

“A Global Flower Communion will mean that Unitarian and Unitarian Universalist communities throughout the world will be celebrating the Flower Communion service at different times on June 4th depending on their local Time Zone. We see this as a wonderful way of enriching the 95th Anniversary of the original Flower Communion service held there in Prague.”

At 9:00 AM the Religious Exploration Group will meet and watch a TED Talk then discuss it.

At 10:00 AM we will have coffee/tea and light snacks.

May 28, John Nino, Member, will lead the Memorial Day service

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs, 100 Norwalk St., welcome you to a special Memorial Day service, where former friends and members will be honored and remembered.  This service will be lead by John Nino.  The service will start at 10:30 AM.

Refreshments and a time to meet and greet will convene at 10:00am.  We will have coffee/tea and light snacks.

MAY 21 Tiffany Gonzales, Member, will do some poetry readings

Join us at 10:30 AM on Sunday May 21 at the Hot Springs Unitarian Universalist Church at 100 Norwalk when Tiffany Gonzalez will do some poetry readings.

At 9:00 AM the Religious Exploration group will watch a TED talk and discuss.

At 10:00 AM there will be Coffee/Tea and light snacks.

After church there will be a Picnic at Entergy Park, weather permitting

May 14, Bob Van Hook, Guest Speaker, will speak on Mothers

Bob Van Hook, will focus on mothers as he speaks to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs 10:30am , Sunday, May 14th.  The service will feature music provided by Rebecca McCormick on the cello and Diane Kesling Silberstein on the violin.

Mezzo-soprano Diane Kesling Silberstein’s career has included distinguished engagements with a number of the world’s leading opera houses: Metropolitan Opera, Houston Opera, La Scala, Seattle Opera, l’Opera de Nice, and the Opera Company of Philadelphia, as well as solo engagements with the Boston Symphony and the Pittsburgh Symphony.

Rebecca McCormick is a multi-platform journalist who specializes in global luxury travel with an emphasis on arts and culture, soft adventure, technology and social media, author of more than 1,000 published articles. Rebecca’s luxury adventures include cello playing in a 12th century French cathedral. When not on the road, Rebecca manages Hot Springs Four Seasons String Quartet, the group with whom she plays cello for weddings and special events.

Robert “Bob” VanHook earned a Master of Divinity Degree

from Duke University.  He served as a Methodist minister from 1962 until 1979, working in churches in North Carolina and Arkansas.  He has served as a delegate to the Seventh Constitutional Convention of Arkansas.

The Wisdom Seekers group will meet at 9:00AM to discuss the book, “What Money Can’t Buy” by Michael J. Sandel.

At 10:00 AM join us for Coffee/Tea and light snacks.

Apr 30, Eileen Martinez, Member, will speak on Creative Fertility – Beltane Celebration

Join us at 10:30 AM as Eileen Martinez will be presenting a talk about Creative Fertility – Beltane Celebration at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs at 100 Norwalk St.

After the service there will be a short Congregational Meeting.

There will be no 9:00 AM RE or Wisdom Seekers group.  Instead there will be the quarterly Spring Street street cleaning.  If you are able, please meet at the church at 9:00 AM and help with the street cleaning.

 

Apr 23, Ron Kew, Guest Speaker, will talk on Plants for Birds for a Bird Friendly Yard

 Join us Sunday April 23 at 10:30 AM as Ron Kew will be presenting a talk about Plants for Birds for a Bird Friendly Yard at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs. He will provide information about things that the congregation might consider doing for themselves.

 Kew was raised in Hot Springs and is a graduate of Lakeside School.  He is a business owner, Solutions Home Entertainment, which has been in Cornerstone shopping plaza for many years. Ron is the vice president of Garland County Audubon Society, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering  Univ of AR and a MBA University of Houston.  He also has a masters degree in financial planning from the College of Financial Planning.

Ron joined the Audubon Society in 1999 when he moved home to Hot Springs because he wanted to join a natural resource oriented club and there wasn’t a Sierra club here.

At 9:00 AM the Wisdom seekers Group will meet and discuss the book, What Money Can’t Buy by Michael J. Sandel.

At 10:00 AM we will have Coffee/Tea and light refreshments.

The public is invited, as always, to join the congregation for services at 10:30am
