Members & Friends,
Thanksgiving–Transcending Turkey, Family and Pumpkin Pie
This Sunday at the UU Village Church, the Thanksgiving message will focus on the concept of gratitude as a way of life—an ancient practice now well researched as a healthy approach to getting through our days.
Tucker Steinmetz, a licensed clinical social worker, is the retired founder of Birch Tree Communities, Inc., a nonprofit recovery program for adults living with serious mental illness. The program was organized in Benton in 1989.
Birch Tree serves about 500 clients living in a variety of housing settings in 12 counties. Steinmetz is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Little Rock.
After the Worship service, there will be a potluck Thanksgiving dinner. This will be a joint service with the UU Church of Hot Springs.
The UU Village Church is located at 403 Barcelona Rd., corner of Barcelona and Calella. Service begins at 10 a.m., preceded by coffee, cookies and conversation at 9:30. Whomever you love, whatever your beliefs, join us.
NOTES:
Reminder: Robin Young, our representative on the Village Interfaith Council, advises that the Interfaith Joint Thanksgiving Service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 25th, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, (corner of Carmona and Barcelona.) This is a joint service with several Village churches. Rabbi Shelley Kleinman will be delivering the message, and our own Bob McCleskey will be one of the readers at this service. All are invited to attend the service and represent UUVC at this event.
