This Sunday is our annual Water Communion and member Denise Marion, will lead a celebration of our shared faith and a fall ingathering service for our church community. Bring with you a small container of water that holds special meaning for you. The water can be taken from a lake, stream, ocean, spring- local or distant- collected from the sky, squeezed from a cucumber … or even from your tap. Our communion will combine these waters in a common bowl.
Unitarian Universalism draws wisdom from many different sources, one of which is direct experience of transcending mystery and wonder, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit. Water is used in this ceremony, and by many religions, to represent such profound and intimate change. In our ceremony we will be combining the memories, meanings and metaphors in the shared water to represent the many sources of our shared wisdom. This Sunday we will also have a special musical surprise featuring our UU Youth, who will be a part of the service.
At 9:00am the Wisdom Seekers invite you to join us for a new book discussion; “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis,” by J.D. Vance, followed by social time at 10:00am and the Water Communion at 10:30am. Please come and celebrate your memories with us.
