Aug 21. Arsala Kahn, Guest Speaker, she will speak on division. “What powers of division break down the human experience?”

Sunday, August 21, we welcome Arsala Kahn, as guest speaker at the U U Church of Hot Springs, at 10:30 a.m.

Arsala is a native of Pakistan. Her life changed when she was sixteen years old. She read Alex Haley’s Roots and the Autobiography of Malcolm X as dictated to Alex Haley. Since then, she was attracted to history and political implications and trajectories, especially in relation to race. Arsala was unanimously voted as an adviser for the Black Student Association and the NAACP chapter at her university, both positions which she still serves. With her background in history and political science, Arsala would like to continue her education and address the issues of patriarchy, imperialism and western standards as they apply to humanity. She has a bachelors’ degree in history and a masters’ degree in social science from Henderson State University. Her thesis covered Malcolm X’s influence on Black America.

This Sunday, Arsala will speak on division. What powers of division break down the human experience? What kinds of division are you carrying around with you?
Please come early for refreshments and social time.

Children are invited to attend the first part of our service and then enjoy Children’s R. E. with this week’s volunteer teacher.
