Unitarian Universalist Church, 100 Norwalk, will feature a talk entitled “Growing Up An Enemy Alien,” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
UU member Barbara Thexton of Hot Springs has adapted her presentation from a sermon originally given by her friend Sattoshi Oishi at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Summit, NJ. Oishi recalls experiences during his relocation from California and his teenage years spent in the Japanese internment camp in Rohwer, Arkansas, during World War II. Executive Order #9066, signed by President Roosevelt, authorized imprisonment of more than120, 000 Japanese in ten concentration camps within the United States. Chronicles of internees on American soil have begun to come out into the open only in recent years
Recent current aftermath of the terroristic tactics of ISIS, and related extremist threats both on United States soil and abroad, have raised a new consciousness for Barbara.
At 9:00 am, the Wisdom Seekers will be discussing Destiny Disrupted.
Come at 10:00 am for Coffee/Tea snacks and social time.
See you on Sunday
