The Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs,100 Norwalk St., welcome Michelle Crandell LCSW, at 10:30 am. Michelle is a student of Eastern religious and spiritual philosophy. She uses Taoist and Buddhist concepts to approach much of her own life. Her topic today is “Perseverance, Eastern Thoughts on a Western Value.” Please join us to hear a refreshing point of view regarding a valuable personal quality.
Michelle has created a diverse professional life for herself. She has provided individual, group, marital and family therapy for over thirty-seven years. She currently sees clients privately and contracts with Levi Hospital as a group therapist for their Intensive Outpatient Program.
Michelle also has a long history as an educator. She was an adjunct lecturer at the University of Michigan in the 1980’s. She provided a monthly lecture at Borders Books and Music in Flint, Michigan for five years. “The manager of Borders simply asked me to speak on anything I wanted. I chose a topic I wanted to learn about and spent a month studying. I was paid to “perform the topic. I was worth my weight in coffee sales, I guess.” Her most recent “teaching gig” was Introduction to Psychology at National Park Community College last year.
Michelle is also a professional mime and improv character actress. She has performed gratis at many local charitable events, and she performs for a fee at private parties and special events.
