Memorial Day Service, John Nino, lay leader

Memorial Day, John Nino will offer a remembrance to all veterans and serving military members. As George Washington once said, “The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by our nation.”

Colonel (Retired) John R. Nino, who served in the Army for 30 years, will be our speaker. In his final military assignment, he coordinated military support to civil authorities in response to natural disasters and other declared emergencies in the southeastern region of the United States. Upon retirement, he joined the staff of the Governor of Georgia as Executive Secretary to the Governor’s Military Affairs Coordinating Committee.

John graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and later obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration from The College of William and Mary. He is also a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College.

The Wisdom Seekers book group meet at 9:00am and will complete its discussion of “The War of World Views – Where Science and Spirituality Meet.”
