June 2, The Sacredness of Water, Denise Marion, lay leader, Laura Lee Williard, musician

“The Sacredness of Water” will be the topic of the program at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs this Sunday.

The majority of people on planet Earth hold religious and spiritual beliefs that convey duties and obligations toward the natural world. Speaker Denise Marion will explore what several of the world’s faiths have to say about humanity’s relationship with water.

Denise Marion is a UUCHS member. She is a life-long environmentalist with an academic and professional background in water resources. Most recently she chaired the E-Day Festival for the Beautification Commission. Denise also is a Co-manager for the Spa City Co-op, tutors at the Literacy Council and occasionally facilitates community drum circles.

Guest musician will be guitarist and singer-songwriter Laura Lee Williard. Laura Lee’s professional style is influenced by Joan Baez, so her folk songs and original compositions are friendly, forthright and full of good humor. Laura Lee has been accepted by the Arkansas Arts Council as an Artist-in-Education, where she offers workshops and residencies in Arkansas schools. Most recently Laura Lee entertained listeners in the Acoustic tent at the E-Day Festival.
